Family Education Center
PARENTS ARE THEIR CHILD’S FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT TEACHER
Licensed early childhood teachers and trained parent educators provide services for families with children birth to kindergarten entry. A variety of center-based classes and/or home visits are offered to provide education and support for the whole family. Choose from our buffet of services to meet your family’s needs. ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education)
ECFE classes are for all families who have children aged birth through kindergarten entrance. ECFE provides parenting information and support. A variety of classes and special events are offered. Most classes follow a similar format with time for parents and children to play together and time for parents to talk with other parents and a licensed parent educator while children are having an early childhood experience with our licensed teachers. Baby Welcome
A FREE home visit for any new arrival under the age of 12 months. Free gifts and information about our community. Call 835-2222 for more information.
Rainbow Connection Preschool
This is a child-only preschool program for children ages 3-5. We focus on early learning in the areas of literacy, math, language, science, music, motor and social skills. We also practice skills and behavior necessary for a successful kindergarten entrance. A flexible parent involvement is required. Taught by licensed teachers. Call 835-2222 for more information.
Kindergarten Option Program (KOP)
This program is an alternative for Kindergarten aged children. This class is for children whose parents want to give their child one more year to develop socially, emotionally, physically and/or intellectually before entering kindergarten. This program meets 3 full days a week and is taught by a licensed kindergarten teacher. Flexible parent involvement is required. Transportation and school lunch are available. PAT (Parents as Teachers)
Our Free home visiting program brings 2 options for support and education in your home:
1.For any family – a one-time visit with a parent educator
2.For economically qualifying families – weekly visits with a parent educator until your child is in Kindergarten

Early Childhood Screening
Required before Kindergarten Entrance, but most valuable for 3 year olds. When your child turns 3, call 835-2222 or email kuls@waseca.k12.mn.us for an appointment.
0-5 School Census
If your family has moved into the Waseca School District within the past 5 years, please call to make sure your child is currently on record for school district planning and communication. Call 835-2222 for more information.
